We are in need of Religious Education Teachers!

If you love to share your faith, and feel that God is calling you to this wonderful ministry, we are always looking for teachers, please contact Kim Fitzpatrick
 Co-teaching or alternative teaching is also available. We will provide all the materials and training. You provide
 the love of your FAITH and the willingness to share it!
 Teaching helps us to learn so much more about our beautiful Catholic faith.

PROGRAM GOALS AND GUIDELINES

GOALS & MISSION
As a Christian parent you are the 1st and best teacher of your child. By sharing your faith, your reverence for God and the church, the Catholic values that guide your choices, and by your love for others, you will teach your child more than can be found in any textbook. By making a commitment to gather around the Lord's table at Sunday mass as a member of a parish family, along with your participation in the religious education program, you are reaffirming the commitment which you made at your child's baptism:  To pass on the gift of faith. 
            It is the goal of the religious education program to support you in that commitment. Through classes, Mass attendance, and faith sharing of the children and their catechists, our Mission is to:
~ Proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ
~ Build a community of believers of all ages
~  Form lives rooted in prayer and worship
~ Foster a spirit of love and service to the Lord and one another
GUIDLEINES
We need the support of each family for our catechists to accomplish our mission. And we ask for your cooperation with the following:
ATTENDANCE

• We meet for approximately 25 hours a year, and each class session is precious. Our teachers spend their free time preparing lessons and activities packed with 1 hour 15 minutes worth of learning. We hope that you place attendance and punctuality  for Religious Education classes on the same level of importance as “regular school” and other extra curricular activities that your child is involved. We ask that your child please be on time as it is disruptive for teachers and students when children arrive late or leave early, or routinely missed classes due to other commitments. 

• We ask parents to communicate with us well in advance whether a challenge arises that may affect your child's attendance, concentration, or behavior. We will do all that we can to support your family and work to find a solution that benefits your child.

• So as not to delay the start of class, we ask that parents call at least 1 hour before class to let us know that your child will be absent, due to illness or an unforeseen circumstance. 

• If your child is absent for more than two classes, homework will be assigned and is to be completed for the next class time. If there are over four absences, a meeting will be held to discuss further action or release of the program until following year. (Attendance is extremely important for the following sacramental preparations, First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation)

• For the safety of each child, parents are to come inside the parish hall to drop off and pick up children, at the side entrance near the Saint Anthony's shrine side of the church.

•  No cell phone use is permitted during class (unless teacher allows for research for a class assignment).
