Occasionally throughout the year we receive requests from people/parishioners for a Sponsor Certificate. A Sponsor Certificate is required if someone is asked to be a Godparent at Baptism or a sponsor for a Confirmation candidate.
Parents or Candidates asking friends or relatives to be sponsors, should keep in mind the following requirements:
The Sponsor should be a practicing Catholic by participating in the celebration of Mass.
They also need to be a registered member of their parish; and they should have received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
The sponsor must often sign the certificate as they attest to the fact that they observe these requirements before the priest signs the document!
By Appointment. Please see the Pastor after Mass for a form.
Once form is submitted, we will contact you to set up a time for baptismal preparation.
Please contact the Pastor to make an appointment twelve months in advance before making plans for reception and wedding date.
Whenever a parishioner is in the hospital, or a nursing/health care facility, Fr. Stanley can visit them, however, please tell us where they are and please let the facility know that the priest is allowed to visit. Because of health care privacy laws-- if we are not sure where a patient is, that information will not be given to us.
It also allows us to remember them in prayer.
There are Catholic Hospital Chaplains and Communion Ministers who also visit the sick and bring them Communion. Hospital Chaplains are also available in emergencies.
But Most Importantly… Please do not wait until the sick person is dying or near death to request that they receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. When someone is sick, they should receive the Sacrament of the Sick as a comfort to the person knowing that the Lord is with them in their sickness and suffering and that they will be remembered in prayer.
